Week 1 & 2

This is the first reflection of the spring semester, how exciting. We haven't had much ambassador responsibility since we've been virtual the first two weeks but this upcoming week we will start in person again. I missed the first ambassador meeting due to scheduling conflicts, it took awhile to get our welcome desk shifts along with our new meeting times so I wasn't able to successfully compromise between ambassadorship and my job at carhartt. I'm excited for the new semester though.

Week 3

Technically this is the third week of the semester and I finally got to fulfill some of my responsibility as an Ambassador! I worked the welcome desk Tuesday morning and attended the IT meeting for the tech committee later in the afternoon with Kyla. I've been enjoying my classes so far being completely online since I enrolled in the online bachelor public health program. With my ADHD I find it hard to sit through class so the online option has been extremely successful for me :) I really miss my fellow Ambassadors and can't wait to really get connected with them again. I'm excited to get to know our new Ambassadors as well! I hope the semester goes easily, I have two intensive courses and two regular courses and at the halfway point of the semester, I will have another intensive course. I haven't been feeling super motivated each week because of the routine workload but I have been doing well so far and making myself stay focused. I do feel a little less confident this semester in my preparedness and ability to keep track of everything, I feel like it was a lot easier last semester for some reason. The winter weather usually has this impact on me so I can't wait for it to warm up.

Week 4

This was an awesome week, we had two snow days because of well, the snow but I did get a few things done earlier in the week to get hours. I did not work the welcome desk this week due to a dentist appointment and a hair appointment I had set in my hometown, Luis was kind enough to cover for me so I appreciated that :) I got to meet Gennevieve this week during our classroom visit and we got to present with Hannah Thompson, I haven't seen her since Homecoming! It is really fun to be back on campus and engaging with students in real life. I did learn that the CPAS program was disbanded and therefore I had lost my position working with Stephen, I was a little sad because I really enjoyed the work we did and how passionate he was but I am excited to see the new adventure, SOL selection. I'm excited to work with Luis and Chauncy as we help select the future SOL's and potential student ambassadors for next year. I also got to see Neveah and Ruthie in person Wednesday, we sat through the SA meeting together and of course we shared a lot of laughs and had a lot of fun.

Week 5

I had a super busy week this week with school work, working at Carhartt and being an ambassador. I'm half asleep as we speak and going to go to bed as soon as I hit publish haha. Semi, Luis and I made an effort to go out and celebrate with Pavel for his birthday after the retreat so we were all very tired by the end of the night (I called it a night at 10:30). Pavel made us Bulgarian food which was very sweet. I t\was glad I didn't have to cook last night after such a busy week.

Week 6

This week was a lot slower; I worked the welcome desk and worked the UC student leader event with Kyla and Luis which was fun. I really enjoy the time I get to spend with fellow ambassadors. I also had an IT meeting this week on Tuesday after working the welcome desk. I found out we actually get a spring break this year which is pretty exciting, we haven't had one since 2019 so I was surprised. The University has also stopped requiring mandatory weekly covid tests which is nice, I really feel like things are slowly going back to normal or as close to normal as I remember. It was nice though having a lighter work load this week, and two of my courses finished this week so now I only have 3 courses, my 2 14 week courses and I start another 7 week course this week.

Week 7

This week was a slower pace, my main responsibilities within my ambassador role were helping with the final selection of our future SOLs for the upcoming orientation season and sitting through an ambassador meeting. It was a very fun meeting since a lot of us sat through the meeting in the ambassador room, I have missed all the ambassador ladies so it was super sweet seeing most of them all in the same place. Next week we have our open house and I'm anticipating it to be a long day because I work open-3:30 at my other job and told Sam I would come over as soon as I got off to help set up for the event. I am excited though because I love telling prospective students and their families why I chose UCBA and how much I have enjoyed my time and how it has been a huge part of my professional developnent and the opportunities available here.

Week 8

Week 8 was a very busy week for me, as I anticipated last week. I did have a lot of fun at our open house, it ran so smooth and I'm looking forward to the one in April. I hope to do better at remembering to update all the parts of this blog I keep forgetting now after doing it for a semester and a half now but I also haven't been taking my ADHD meds lately so I hope to be better about that. I'm looking forward to coming back now that spring break is over, I did not even realize we had a spring break this year until someone told me! I also have a job interview coming up March 29th or 30th in Columbus for a position at OSU very soon, I'm incredibly excited since it's an entry level job that puts me exactly where I want to be, still with one academic year left to complete my degree. There has just been a lot of goodness going on in my life and I'm sad to be wrapping up my time at UCBA and as an ambassador but I'm incredibly excited for the future!
